Capture Your 10 Year Vision for a Remarkable Life
Debbie Millman is an incredible thinker who takes the time to see her experience in a larger narrative. I find this to be a key characteristic of a resilient attitude and a growth mindset. In an interview on The Tim Ferriss Show, she described an incredible exercise that she picked up from the incredible graphic designer and her teacher, Milton Glaser.
Take out some paper or your computer and sit down to write.
What could your life be without any fear of failure? What if you pursued everything with the certainty it would succeed?
Imagine it’s the year 2030…
Do not edit. Do not limit. Dream big. Shoot for 10 pages or more.
What does your life look like? Write it out.
Step 1
What are you doing?
Where are you living?
Who are you living with?
Do you have pets?
What kind of home are you in?
Where is your home?
What does your furniture look like?
What do you eat?
What do you wear?
What’s your hair like?
What do you read?
What do you make?
How’s your health?
What do you desire?
etc…
Step 2
Describe one day in your life in the year 2030.
From wake time to bedtime.
Write it all down.
Put your whole heart into it.
Make it detailed.
What time do you wake up? What do you do for breakfast? What type of coffee do you make? What’s your morning routine? Do you commute? How far…
List everything you want to come true for a day in your life. Everything
Step 3
Read it once a year
The longer it is, the more likely it is to come true.
Go.
